Memorandum by the Hungarian Foreign Minister (János Péter) on the Romanian Proposal to Convene the PCC5 Feb 1968 |
||
Description:
In this memorandum, Hungarian Foreign Minister János Péter reports on a letter sent by Romanian leader Nicolae Ceauşescu to János Kádár in January 1968. This letter suggests holding a meeting of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) in February to discuss the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. According to the memorandum, Hungary agrees with the Soviet version of the treaty and sees no need for further discussions on this topic. Hungary proposes a new agenda for the February PCC meeting, including issues such as the report of the United Armed Forces headquarters on the European military situation and the state of the armed forces of the Warsaw Pact.
