||
Description:
This document is a transcript of a meeting between the general secretary of the East German Socialist Unity Party, Erich Honecker, and the general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Konstantin Chernenko. At the meeting Honecker faces criticism from several Soviet leaders, including Mikhail Gorbachev, for his country's relations with West Germany. Chernenko reminds the participants of West Germany's offensive military doctrine and argues that an official state visit to West Germany would have negative consequences. Honecker responds by drawing attention to the positive aspects of East Germany's relations with its Western neighbor.
