Declaration by the Signatories to the Warsaw Treaty28 Jan 1956 |
||
Description:
This declaration of the signatories of the Warsaw Pact, prepared at the 1956 PCC meeting in Prague, expresses the unanimous agreement of all participants on the measures necessary for easing international tension and the consolidation of peace and security in Europe. The signatories criticize NATO's policy of rearmament and further development of nuclear and hydrogen weapons. They argue that an effective system of security could be created through political means by signing a nonaggression treaty between Warsaw Pact and NATO countries, irrespective of their political systems and beliefs.
