Description:
This report by the Joint Planning Staff examines a SHAPE paper, entitled Force Posture Allied Command Europe 1960762. Prepared by SACEUR at his own initiative, the paper aims at indicating the minimum level of forces required by NATO strategy to defend Europe in the light of anticipated new weapons, the assessment of the Soviet threat, and SACEUR's concept of how future war would unfold.
