Description: This is a transcript of a conversation between India’s Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the Soviet General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev during the latter's visit to India in March 1960. The leaders discuss world affairs and the respective position of their countries with respect to the nuclear arms race, disarmament issues, the German question and the representation of China in the United Nations, stressing the general consensus between the two countries on the main issues. Nehru expresses his concern with respect to the interconnectedness of the disarmament issue with the question of Berlin and German reunification as well as the problem of the two Chinas. Khrushchev comments on recent developments in the Middle East and Central Africa and their repercussions on international politics.
