Description:
This document summarizes the results of a US government assessment of the Soviet strategic weapons potential. It was prepared by the East German Staatssicherheit (Stasi) intelligence agency. The US expects the development of mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles with increased precision, of cruise missiles, and of strategic bombers. According to US sources, the Soviet Union has 19 divisional complexes with intercontinental ballistic missiles, amounting to 1,400 missiles in underground armored silos with 7,400 warheads.
