This document offers an overview of NATO intelligence on the Warsaw Pact's (WP) operational planning and armed forces. It was prepared by the East German Staatssicherheit (Stasi) intelligence agency. NATO reconnaissance bodies analyzed WP exercises and maneuvers and reported to NATO command Central Europe on the reliability of the WP's information on NATO forces and plans, on the structure of the Warsaw Pact armed forces in a possible war. NATO concludes that the WP has knowledge of NATO operational plans. Annexed is a map displaying the expected confrontation as derived from the reconnaissance results.
