Description:
This report on the meeting of the Committee for National Defense of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (HSWP), held in June 1963, discusses the state of the Hungarian People's Army and the long-term objectives for its development. The committee concludes that the targets set until 1962 have been accomplished. The modernization of the national air defense infrastructure is seen as a crucial task, and most of the available resources have been allocated to upgrading it. In case of an armed confrontation, the authors' assessment is that the material reserves of the Hungarian armed forces would only be sufficient for the first days of war.
