Description:
This draft document of the decision of Warsaw Pact party leaders to convene a meeting of the Political Consultative Committee (PCC) in January 1956 in Prague, and the subsequent draft of a public declaration, outline the main issues proposed for the agenda. In addition to consultation on topical issues in the international arena and Soviet foreign policy, a central place is given to discussions about organizational changes in the Warsaw Pact. The latter include the confirmation of the statute of the Unified Command, proposals for the creation of a foreign policy commission and a unified secretariat, and the inclusion of East Germany's national army in the United Armed Forces (UAF).
