Description:
This is a summary of a meeting of the Warsaw Pact (WP) chiefs of staff in Moscow in October 1987. At this meeting, several Soviet military officials inform their colleagues of the changes in military doctrine agreed to at the recent meeting of the Political Consultative Committee. After assessing NATO's offensive military strategy, the authors conclude that the WP United Armed Forces must enhance their combat-readiness and modernize their military equipment.
