Description:
These minutes of the meeting of the Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party concentrate on exposing the differences of opinion expressed by the Romanian delegation at the 1966 PCC meeting in Bucharest with regard to the declarations on the strengthening of peace and security in Europe and the US occupation in Vietnam. As the only country to refuse to sign the Vietnam declaration as prepared by the Soviet Union, Romania manages to negotiate a compromise on the text to include its own suggestions. As far as economic issues are concerned, Romania opposes the transformation of COMECON into a supranational organization and the development of a unified economic plan, arguing that such steps will create obstacles to Romania's industrial development.
