This excerpt from the memoir of East German intelligence officer Heinz Busch gives an account of the espionage activities of several agents working for East German military intelligence inside NATO, extracting some of the Western alliance's most closely held military secrets. Busch explains that starting in the late 1960s, due to the activities of their spies, East Germany and the Soviet Union were well informed about the most important NATO plans for operations in Europe.
